Ski-In, Ski-Out Access and Ownership Questions

What ski-in, ski-out, short walk and shuttle claims mean, why they are separate, and how to confirm access rights before you buy.

Ski-in and ski-out are two different claims. A home can be easy to ski down to at the end of the day but require a walk or a lift ride to reach in the morning, or the reverse. A short walk to the lifts and a shuttle stop are useful, but neither one is ski-in or ski-out. These guides explain the vocabulary and the documents that actually establish access.

On Where2Ski, ski-access claims from a listing's own description are labeled as listing-reported unless a reviewer has confirmed them. Being near a slope or trail does not create a right to use it. Easements, association rules, ski area operating plans and land manager permits decide that, and they can change.
